Idrocompresso + Speedster = Idro-matic
We`ve been trying an old idea: having a progressive pre-infusion system with a spring strong enough to also provide a declining pressure later on in the extraction. A simple connection from the Speedster`s PPIC-tube to a levergroup of an old Mirage Idrocompresso provides a perfect test mule.
Pre-infusion can still be done manually, by engaging centre position (group solenoid activated, no pump) of the Speedster lever. Once the lower position is engaged (pump switched on) the rising pressure is absorbed by the spring inside the Idrocompresso`s levergroup. Pressure rises slowly to full 9 bar. This rise in pressure can easily be adjusted in speed by a needle valve jet. When full pressure has been reached, one can return to centre position with the Speedster lever to switch off the pump. The levergroup`s spring now takes over as the source of pressure, resulting in a declining pressure from 9 to whatever pressure you switch off. When switched off, the remaining water and pressure is discharged through the group solenoid, cleaning this with a strong flow of clean water.
